We did it!
One year ago, things looked economically bleak on both the local and
national fronts. However, with everyone contributing their time, money
and enthusiasm to the little church on the hill with a big heart, we
were able to help others in need whether within our own community or our
world community. Our mission work comes in many forms. Through our
Fund Raising, we were able to:
- Donate money to the Valley Food Shelf and The VT Food Bank at
Kingsbury Farm from the Town Meeting Day lunch and the Pig Roast
- Donate money to Hannah’s House from the Tim Janis concert and
reception
- Donate money to Malayka House, a Ugandan orphanage for children
of parents who died from AIDS with funds raised at the Pancake
Breakfast
- Donate money to Pastopamba for computers and musical
instruments.
From our allotted funds in our church budget we contributed to:
- The Vermont Conference UCC
- Harwood’s Project Graduation
- Rwanda Therapeutic Art Project
- College Scholarships for our youth
- Educational gift for a young person in need
- Therapeutic Riding School scholarship for child with Autism.
Many hours of volunteer work and contributions helped:
- Community members through the Community Service teams
- The Vermont Food Bank on four Saturday mornings
- Collect baby items for PINS
- Collect school supplies for PINS
- Provide blankets for the Church World Service
- Support Valley families with Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas
gifts
- Social Service agencies throughout Vermont during our Outreach
Week in June. Places we served included:
- COTS (Committee on Temporary Shelter) and two Dismas Houses
in the Burlington area
- Battered Women’s Shelter in Barre
- Pease Stables (therapeutic riding) in Middlesex.
