The Warren United Church is organized as a benevolent corporation under Vermont law and is a 501C(3) corporation in the eyes of the Internal Revenue Service. The Church manages it's day to day affairs in accordance with church by-laws through the direction of the Church Officers and Council, comprised of the chairs of the various Church Committees.
The Church Offices are defined in the bylaws as the Moderator, Vice Moderator, Treasurer and Clerk.
As chief lay officer, the Moderator is elected to serve as a facilitator and coordinator of the church’s life and mission.
The Vice Moderator assists the Moderator as necessary and fills the role of Moderator in the Moderator’s absence.
The Clerk keeps records of the proceedings of the church, a register of the members with dates and methods of admission and removal, a record of baptisms, weddings and funerals.
The Treasurer keeps an accurate record of the financial and investment affairs of the church.
The Church Council is the policy making and planning body of The Church, and consists of the following Church officers and committee chairpersons: Pastor, Moderator, Vice Moderator, Clerk, Treasurer, and Chairpersons of Deacons, Trustees, Christian Education, Stewardship and Mission, and Music Ministry.
Among other duties, the Deacons work with the Pastor to enrich the spiritual life of the church.
The Trustees are responsible for maintaining the church's properties and grounds.
The Christian Education Committee manages the educational programs of the church, securing leadership and selecting curriculum.
Stewardship and Mission
The Stewardship and Mission Committee raises and allocates funds for local and wider missions and encourages responsible use of money, possessions, time and talent according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Music Ministry Committee, comprised of the organists/pianists and choir director is responsible for the music ministry of the Church.
